The Parable of the Scorpion and the Turtle Applied to Regime-change Adventurism

The Parable of the Scorpion and the Turtle Applied to Regime-change Adventurism

  • The turtle (let's say U.S., Israel, France, Turkey, and possibly Qatar) are hesitant to carry the scorpion (let's say Foreign Jihadi Terrorists) on their backs across the river, but they eventually agree.
  • The scorpion promises not to sting the naive, foolish turtle.
  • Together they make it across the river and celebrate their successes.
  • The scorpion then starts stinging the turtle and hurts him terribly soon after they accomplish their goal.
  • The turtle calls the scorpion a traitor and a terrorist, and asks him why he tortured him after all he did for it. The scorpion laughs hysterically and then stings the turtle again and again in all parts of his body. Finally, the scorpion replies, "How is it that you didn't know that wanton destruction is in my nature?"
  • In summary, the turtle, embarrassed and severely injured, agrees to carry the scorpion across the river again… over and over again.

This parable can be applied to understanding the inevitable blowback of regime-change evil deeds and shenanigans.
