In this 7-day window, AOC acquired over 2000 followers across three social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare the contradictions of U.S. imperialism, including those that continue to render the American left politically isolated and ineffectual. China has found itself at the center of this process. U.S. imperialism has successfully convinced many of its so-called “citizens” to believe that the U.S. government is the principle arbiter of bourgeois freedoms such as the right to individual liberty and free speech. China, on the other hand, has long been depicted by the U.S. ruling class as an “authoritarian regime” where the rights of individuals are crushed under the weight of a centrali…

It’s official: coronavirus has shown that men and women still don’t have equality
Steve Topple | thecanary.co | 2020-05-27
New research from the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) has revealed some telling stats about life during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Come on! Dominic Cummings’ name didn’t trend on Twitter… because of anti-porn filters
rt.com | 2020-05-27
He may have remained relentlessly in the news for the past week, but Boris Johnson’s embattled chief adviser Dominic Cummings still hasn’t managed to trend on Twitter, despite being the subject of ample social media trolling. | That’s because Twitter’s anti-porn filters have prevented his full name in its correct form from appearing in the trends, according to the Guardian. | Cummings has been subjected to intense scrutiny since it emerged that the UK prime minister’s top aide had made a 260-mile trip from London to Durham with his ill wife during the height of Britain’s Covid-19 lockdown, when the government…
